My Sweet Meetan

On last week’s episode of Suppon no Onnatachi, the host had a surprise for the girls.  BTW, I still don’t know what that guy’s name is.  I guess we can call him “Crazy Old Man” .  Meetan, will you please do the honors?

Crying???  “Uso!!!”  (No way!)

It was anti-climactic for the viewer since we already knew about it.  But this was when the girls first found out SDN48 had been signed to the Universal Music record label.

Wow, look at the reactions!  Especially from the former AKB48 girls.  I’m sure it has been tough for them to watch AKB48 take off like a rocket while SDN48 is still in “building mode”.  Congratulations girls!

And if you ever wanted to see what the “High Touch” event is like.  There ya go!!!

SDN48’s new monthly show debuted this past weekend.  I’m guessing this program will be similar to the former AKB48+10 program which featured various members of Team B on a monthly mission or adventure.  However, this episode focused on allowing the viewer to get to know some of the members.  And who better to host that portion of the show than SDN48’s comedy duo of Nachu and Meetan!!!

For those of you who have never seen an SDN48 show, Nachu and Meetan do a short comedy bit after Jaujama Lady while the girls get prepared to perform Ganbarina.  Nachu is her usual crazy self while Ohori sort of plays the straight character.  The dynamic was in many ways the same here, except Meetan had the opportunity to showcase her own comedy “chops” as well.  The first victim being Takahashi Yui, who seemed to be getting under Ohori’s skin…

I was getting AKBingo! flashbacks during that scene.  Oh, the good ole’ days eh?  I’m so glad to see Ohori back on television!  But that wasn’t all, it looks as if Meetan has a new “loli” toy to play with in 21-year old Fukuyama Sakura from SDN’s 2nd Team.

Nachu tries to horn in on the act as well.  But Meetan wasn’t having any of that.  Watch it Natsuko!  Sakuran belongs to Meetan only!

It hadn’t dawned on me that having a new team of SDN members means Ohori has a brand new set of cute girls to paw all over.  It should make interesting reading on her future blog posts.  SDN48+10 will be shown at the beginning of each month and repeat at various times throughout the month.  Check the schedule at the official channel site for upcoming showtimes.

It is the show’s mission to gain exposure for SDN and help build the fanbase.  The second episode’s mission?  A photo spread in Weekly Playboy.  So who better to appear in a sexy magazine spread than good ole’ Meetan.

Ohori brings sexy friends Serina and Chenchu.  The question is will the “suits” at WPB be able to resist the temptation of these three sexpots?  (I doubt it)

After Chen fit her entire body in a small suitcase and Serina showed everyone her talent for drawing caricatures, it was time for Meetan’s sexy dance.  If it were me I would already be calling the photographers.  But just to make sure, the girls go in for the kill.

I have been saving this post for some reason.  But before it gets too stale…

One of the lesser known AKB48 television shows appears on one of those satellite channels (like SKE Gakuen and Idoling!!!)  It is called AKB 1/48, and it features two members doing various activities around Japan.  And last Christmas Meetan was featured bar/club-hopping around Roppongi with fellow SDN48er Kohara Haruka.  Let’s join in on the action…

The ladies arrive at the smallest comedy club I have ever seen.  Then again this is Japan, where they have a crazy knack for squeezing a lot of stuff into a small space…or have you never been to the AKB48 Theater?

First drink of the night.  This will be a recurring theme.  I am reasonably sure that Ohori is no lightweight when it comes to downing the booze.  She starts out with some sort of fru fru Pina Colada looking thing.  Hey it’s early!  The evening of fun is just beginning…

Personally I have become jaded when it comes to comedians.  And I have to be honest I just don’t get Japanese comedy at all.  Most of it is really old school, like vaudeville type of stuff.  Japanese comedians either have some sort of strange catch phrase (”Gets”, “Ai~n” etc.), do some sort of prop comedy ala Carrot Top, or they do the classic “straight man/fall guy” team thing like Abbott and Costello.  That said, I didn’t see anything particularly funny going on here.  But Meetan is laughing her butt off!

And what a cute butt it is  In fact she might be laughing a little too hard.  Usually that type of stuff annoys me.  But this is Meetan.  So I’m just excited to see her smiling and enjoying herself.

I don’t know how they got separated, but now Meetan is alone in the bar ripe to be picked up by some smarmy guy.  But this bar seems to be empty.  There isn’t even a bartender.  These girls need to pick a more hip place to hang out!

Meetan’s date finally arrived.  I think this is drink #3.  She seems to have switched to something a little harder too.  What is that, a Cosmo?  I can’t tell if it is pink or not.  Don’t tell me she is drinking a Vodka-Tonic.  I knew we were compatible!!!

While Meetan gulps down her cocktail and Harukachan pretends to drink hers, the girls talk about cute girly idol things.  And this was about the time when Ohori’s gravure DVD came out, so she takes a minute to do a little promotion.  By the way, did you buy your copy yet???

And there ya go.  That’s about as close as any of us are going to get to a date with Meetan.  So what did we learn?  Two things really.  Meetan likes to laugh, and Meetan likes to drink.  But that’s no surprise really, we all knew she was sort of a “party girl”

And isn’t that why we love her anyway?  Great job Meetan!

Sometimes wishes come true, don’t they?  What did I say on the end of my last post???

Meetan announced the other day on her blog that she had to get some sleep because of an “unknown” job she had the next day.  Well, now that mystery has been revealed…

Yes, Meetan revealed in this post that she was off filming AKB48’s drama Majisuka Gakuen.  I have no idea what role she is playing.  But the fact that she is getting to be in the show makes it all that much more awesome.

Way to go Ohori-chan!  I will be rooting for you.  But do yourself a favor, keep out of Atsuko’s way, okay?

U-Can Presents

My favorite part had to be when Meetan started speaking Italian.  Too funny!!!  Once again, it makes me so happy to see Meetan getting outside work like this.  In fact I know she is proud of it as she talked about it on her blog yesterday.
