My Sweet Meetan

Tuesday was the final installment of Meetan and Sayaka’s radio show on Ameba.  Wow, that was sudden!  I’m sad I never got a chance to see the show in person.  Oh well.  I am sure Ohori will make an appearance there again.  Since it was the final show, there were no guests.  Just the girls reminiscing about the last year or so together.  And their show wouldn’t be complete without a little fun and hi-jinks.  And I’m not talking about Ameba Piggu…

It’s the Meetan/Sayaka Super Mario Kart Challenge!!!

Meetan has often alluded to her fondness for video games.  And it was evident here as she thoroughly kicked Sayaka’s butt at this game.  Jeez, she always seems so busy.  Who could have imagined that Meetan is a couch potato/gamer in real life!

That was fun!  The girls actually played the game a few times, and apparently they had quite a few people outside watching.  At one point the audience had to leave so an entirely new set of people could come in and see the final show.  With the benefit of hindsight, I would have loved to be in the second group…

As the show wound down their Ameba producer showed up with a little gift for the girls.  By the way, it wasn’t evident during the show, but the producer’s shirt is a promotion for Meetan’s new DVD.

That’s the Meetan I know and love.  So sentimental, so emotional.  I just relish Meetan moments like that.  Just like when she got all choked up at Hatakeyama Chisaki’s birthday show.  Say goodnight girls…

I am really sorry this show had to end.  And it is especially tough on Ohori with her move SDN48 full-time.  Ending this show is another part of the separation process.  Shibuya AX 2010 should be interesting.  And here is a link to the girl’s short farewell video on Ameba’s official site…

Sayaka was absent for the second consecutive show at Ameba.  So Meetan’s co-host was Tokyo Tower Girl Umeda Ayaka.  Yayy!!!  I like Umechan.

I knew I would never stay awake for this show, but I had the page open on my PC.  There were tons of girls hanging around the studio at least an hour prior to showtime because tonight’s guest was Chiba-san from w-inds.  But some of the AKB fans were able to get in and watch the beginning of the show…

It’s Hiro!!!!!  Hahaha, I see you buddy!  According to Hiro the staff kicked all of the AKB fans out a short time later to make room for the throngs of fangirls wanting to watch.

The girls like to say that they enjoy when there are females in the audience at the Don Quijote.  But I think they were a bit overwhelmed by the zealous fangirling going on outside the window.  Meetan obviously missed feeding off of “Team Meetan”

Ohori and Umechan try to mimic the w-inds hand gesture.  Meetan immediately noticed it is pretty much the same hand gesture popularized by Kago and Tsuji of “W”.  That’s right, Meetan likes Tsuji!  She probably likes Kago too.

They finally let the AKB fans back in after the interview, much to the girls relief.  The it was time for the traditional show ending “shot”

As Ohori points out, why does the drink get so huge when she has to drink it.  Sayaka usually gets a shot glass.  That looks more like a Hi-ball.  Not fair!

And a little promotion for the soon to be released DVD.  Yatta!!  You can see highlights of the show here.  And a new show was just added to the schedule!  Tuesday night at 20:00 (3am pacific, 6am eastern).  Will it be another episode of “Where’s Hiro”?  Or maybe I’ll find a way to get Ohori to wish me a happy birthday.  (hehe)

I totally “bricked” on watching Meetan and Sayaka’s Ameba show live this weekend.  1pm???  I don’t remember the show ever airing that early before.  No matter, I got a hold of a rip of the program.  So all is good!

Just like a few weeks ago when Meetan was all excited because her hero Ami Suzuki was the guest.  Sayaka was jazzed because a Michael Jackson impersonator was on the schedule.  Hmmmm…I guess I would be excited if a Meetan lookalike was coming over to my house.  Anyway, Sayaka dressed for the occasion and even brought along some of her MJ swag.  Then the momentous occasion arrived…

Errrrrr.  Well, he is dressed like MJ.  At first I was trying to figure out if he was Japanese.  He kept acting like he didn’t understand what the girls were saying, and kept muttering English phrases in an almost perfect American accent.  Was he trying to convince them he was really Michael Jackson?  After many awkward moments he finally broke down and began speaking Japanese.

Moonwalk time!  Actually he is really good!  One of the funniest things about this episode was Meetan’s reaction every time MJ-san said “Oh my God”.  And my god, he said it a lot!  But my favorite moment came after he tried to teach Sayaka to do the moonwalk.  Meetan’s reaction to Sayaka’s interactions with this guy were just priceless…

WTF???

Hahahahahaha!  Actually Meetan had two of these hysterical moments.  I don’t know what you talk to a Michael Jackson impersonator about for an hour.  And apparently the girls didn’t either.  So that could only mean one thing….Piggu Time!!!

The Ameba Pigg thing went on forever.  And now I know precisely why I haven’t attempted to access the site.  First of all, I am not proficient in the language.  And second, look at all of the other people chasing Sayaka and Meetan’s characters around the site!  How annoying!!!  And I bet that happens to all of the AKB girls when they go on there.  But I did get a kick out of Meetan clicking away at her laptop.  She loves playing with that thing, and her Piggu character is so cute!!!

Thanks for playing Michael Jackson-san, here is your lovely parting gift.  And he had a little present for Sayaka and all of the fans…

Awwwww, how nice!  But I am still wondering why Sayaka is fangirling so much over this guy.  It would be like me fawning all over the drummer from Beatlemania because he looks a little like Ringo Starr!

Time for the traditional show-ending “shot”.  BTW, I still looking for a clue of what these drinks are.  Is it heavily alcoholic?  Or does it just taste bad?

And there ya go, fun show.  Meetan was hysterical as usual.  And they have another episode this week!  It will air Thursday night at 19:00 Japan local time, which is 2am Thursday morning here in California.  here is the link so you don’t miss it!

While Sayaka was off being awesome in NYC, Meetan hosted their regular radio show with none other than Team K’s Kobayashi Kana.

Kana-chan seemed a bit shy in the early going, resorting to a lot of smiles and giggles.  Not to fear, Meetan took the lead on the show in fine style.  Their special guest was comedian/impressionist Kannazuki, who was promoting a live show next month in Tokyo.  Hmmm, I’ll be in town for that!

Back to the radio show…Meetan did a great job of keeping the show moving.  It was an interesting dynamic.  Meetan was interviewing Kannazuki, while he seemed to be interviewing Kobayashi!  Then the girls got into the act, doing their own impersonations.  Wow, Ohori is so sexy when she emphasises her “smoky” voice.

Kana was a little bit quiet, but she was as cute as ever.  She couldn’t wait to get that wig off!!!!  Then it was time for the Meetan/Sayaka traditional show ending!!!

The show ended with the usual drinking of the mystery “shot”.  I have always assumed this is liquor they are drinking, and the fact that Kana didn’t taste it supports that.  But jeez, that was quite a bit of carrying on for just a shot of whisky.  I have a feeling it is something more “offensive” than that.  Or maybe Meetan is just a bigger drama queen than I thought!

And this was a group photo from last week’s promotion of PIGG.  PIGG is that little virtual world that Ameba bloggers hang out in.  Meetan has been playing on it for quite a while now, as has our friend Hiro@USA.  But it is quickly growing in popularity, evidenced by all of the AKB48 members who have recently created Ameba blogs just so they can be on PIGG too…

Meetan was so cute last week when her idol Ami Suzuki payed a visit to her Ameba radio show with Sayaka…

It seemed like everyone, including Ami-sama was fascinated my Meetan’s antics during the show.  To say she was “in love” is an understatement.  “In awe” is more like it.  I couldn’t help but think this is exactly how I would be if I was in Meetan’s presence.

Okay, I totally dropped the ball on this.  Meetan appeared with recent Team K graduate Hayano Kaoru on DJ Tomoaki’s show on Shimokita 88.8 FM.  The show was also simulcast on the station website.  Meetan posted a few pics on her blog, and our Senbatsu Co-Campaign Manager Hiro gave me a brief “play by play” from his spot right in front of the window!  Apparently there was some cooking going on, and Hiro taunted Ohori with a set of hooks similar to the ones used this week on AKBingo!  Check the previous post for that “horrifying” experience.

But not to fear, the website will be replaying the show this weekend.  According to Hiro, the show will be replayed the 14th throught the 17th at 9pm local Japan time.  Be sure and tune in to see our hero in action!  Well…two heros if we happen to catch a glimpse of Hiro-san too!  Here is the link to the station site.
